A small utility built to make programming lighting effects faster. Enter a song’s tempo to get Onyx’s speed wheel value.

How it works
The Onyx speed wheel doesn’t match up with BPM values linearly, so the calculator uses a table of known BPM values and interpolates between them. If the BPM falls between two known values, you get the nearest whole wheel value, and the error shows how far that value’s actual BPM is from the one you asked for.
Onyx developers: if this isn’t a call for you to add tap tempo (or even type tempo) to your general FX engine, I don’t know what is.
Why half and quarter values?
When I build light shows for worship, I typically use half-speed values for intensity and color effects, and quarter-speed values for pan/tilt, gobo, and beam effects. Full-speed values are great for four-on-the-floor hits (many recent ELVEVATION RHYTHM songs, like AMAZING! or WELCOME HOME) but can be difficult to keep in phase with the song because of Onyx’s speed wheel values.
